Founded as a repair solution for water-damaged mobile phones that earned airtime on TV’s Dragons’ Den, WeFix changed direction to become an on-the-road mobile phone repair service with big ambitions.
Ridown invested in a majority stake in the business, which was then operated by the founder from one van in Essex. From there, Ridown empowered WeFix to realise its ambitions as a UK-wide repair service.
Ridown leveraged strong industry relationships to become the exclusive repair partner for Samsung UK for handsets in and out of warranty. A corporate partnership programme secured agreements to manage the repairs for customers of household names including RBS and Barclays, through their tech insurance schemes.
Empowered by Ridown. WeFix grew to operate 110 vans responding within a one-hour callout window, covering 96% of the UK and completing more than 10,000 repairs a month.
Having achieved the target of growing the WeFix brand to become the leading name in mobile device repair, Ridown exited the business with a sale to US-based mobile phone lifetime management company Brightstar (now known as Likewize), then a part of the global investment group Softbank.
